Mike Haytack Pensacola Photographer

    About Mike

Thank you for taking the time to learn more about me. Growing up in California, I was always drawn to creative problem-solving and inventive approaches to achieving meaningful results. I quickly found that art—particularly photography and videography—could uniquely capture and share my vision with others. This realization set me on a path that guided me throughout my life.

After dedicating 20 years to military service, where adaptability and precision became second nature, I pursued my lifelong passion for photography. Today, I’m proud to work as a professional photographer, blending the discipline and work ethic I honed during my military career with my deep-rooted creativity. I aim to deliver high-quality, impactful media, regardless of the challenges or conditions, knowing that every project deserves uncompromising attention to detail.

Based in Pensacola, FL, I focus on professionalism and adaptability, prepared to meet each client’s unique needs. My commitment goes beyond location; I’m ready and eager to travel, ensuring that your project is brought to life in the best way possible, wherever it may be. Whether it’s a local assignment or an international collaboration, I’m dedicated to helping you achieve your vision with images that make a lasting impression.

How long have you been a photographer and videographer?

Technically, I’ve been a professional since 2013, but my passion for photography started around age 10. My mom’s friend, Bobby Lurma, was an incredible film photographer. More than his work, it was his laid-back, “can-do-anything” approach to life that drew me to the art form. His photography was rich in tone and full of life—whether he was capturing people or inanimate objects, every subject had real expression. Bobby’s laugh, demeanor, and philosophy still influence me on every project today.

    Do you use drones?

Absolutely! I’ve been involved in the commercial drone industry since 2013 and am FAA-certified. I was one of the first commercial drone operators along the Emerald Coast of Florida. My focus is on aerial photography and videography, capturing perspectives that tell a story from above.

What camera gear do you use?

I primarily use Canon gear. My current setup includes:

    • Canon: R5 MKII, R5C and R6
    • Lenses: A mix of Canon, Sigma
    • Lighting: A range of strobe lighting and modifiers to refine every shot

Do you have any formal training?

Yes! I studied film at Full Sail University and have continued my education through online courses and hands-on workshops. Photography and videography are ever-evolving, so I’m always learning and refining my craft.

What is your favorite subject to photograph?

Mother Earth! I love being outdoors—like, really outdoors. Watching the weather change, reading the light, and capturing the elements in their rawest form is something I never get tired of.
